IT Governance to help industry tackle new ‘minimum cyber security standard’

ELY, CAMBRIDGESHIRE, UNITED KINGDOM, July 9, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Ely, United Kingdom, 9 June 2018 – A new cyber security standard, announced by the UK government and affecting all public-sector departments and their suppliers, has been backed by cyber expert IT Governance, which is able to offer support to the sector.

Although the UK government has made strides in introducing cyber security measures in the past decade, with its 10 Steps to Cyber Security and the Cyber Essentials framework, this is the first technical standard for cyber security developed by the government in collaboration with the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC). Attacks such as the WannaCry ransomware incident of 2017 have demonstrated the devastating effects they can have on organisations that don’t have the necessary security measures in place. IT Governance, an approved NCSC provider, is a leader in cyber security expertise and can support suppliers to meet these latest requirements.

Alan Calder, founder and chief executive of IT Governance, says the industry welcomes the new standard: “It is so important that the government recognises the need for a more mature cyber risk governance. At IT Governance we have the expertise and capacity to provide an organisation with all its cyber security needs. This includes certifying to ISO 27001, which is the international standard for an information security management system (ISMS), and can fulfil the majority of requirements stipulated by the minimum cyber security standard.”

IT Governance can support organisations with their ISO 27001 certification in the form of staff awareness training courses, toolkits, books, software and consultancy.

IT Governance offers a variety of cyber security and data protection solutions, such as certified training courses, security testing services, books, toolkits, software and consultancy services.
