If you plan to see "The Nutcracker" this year at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City, adults and children must show proof of full vaccination against COVID-19.
Kansas City Ballet leaders are growing increasingly concerned that messages may not reach people who bought tickets on third-party sites online.
The ballet's directors say they want to avoid a scenario of turning families away at the door, simply because they did not know the ballet's vaccine policy.
"We're concerned that really well-meaning people will have paid a lot more money than they should have, arrive here at the Kauffman Center with their family and children all dressed up ready to go, and we are not going to be able to let them enter the theater," said Jeff Bentley, executive director of the Kansas City Ballet. "That is an awful scenario for me to think about."
Bentley said the Kansas City Ballet adopted a full-vaccination policy for all guests, performers and workers to keep everyone safe. The ballet is not accepting proof of a negative test for entry, like other shows at the Kauffman Center.
Bentley also said people are getting overcharged for tickets to see the Nutcracker from third-party vendors, sometimes from vendors that appear high in search engines.
"We're a not-for-profit organization," Bentley said. "We are committed to getting these ticket prices as low as we can. To have that undermined, essentially, from the commercial vendors out there, the third-party vendors, is just disappointing."
The official ticket site for The Nutcracker is here.
