Armenian ballet artist, dance instructor and People’s Artist of the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic Vilen Galstyan has died at the age of 80. This is what his son, Davit Galstyan informed on his Facebook page.

Born in Yerevan, Galstyan graduated from the Yerevan Dance Schol and has performed in various ballet performances, including Khachatryan’s “Spartak” and “Gayane”, Hovhannisyan’s “Eternal Idol”, Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake”, etc.

He has performed in the USSR and several countries around the world and receive numerous awards. He has also served as head of the dance group of the Philharmonic of Krasnodar and has performed in the Big Theater of Moscow, as well as on the big stages in England, France, Japan and the US. Galstyan has also starred in over 60 films. Since 2004, he was the director of the Yerevan State Dance School, and since 2014 — the chief ballet master of the Alexander Spendiaryan National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet. Galstyan has received several state awards, certificates and prizes in Armenia and abroad.
