Kylie Bedard Tess J Photography

Kylie Bedard, daughter of Amy and Joe Bedard of Saco, was co-president of the National Honor Society, and a member of Student Council and the Community Leaders Club. She participated in varsity soccer, as well as indoor and outdoor track and field. She has been appointed to the United States Naval Academy, and has committed to run track and field for the NCAA Div. I USNA. She plans to study English.

Zara Boss winky lewis

Zara Boss, daughter of Sarah Bouchard and Justin Boss of Woolwich, is an accomplished artist whose excellent work has been honored by her teachers. She is a member of an advanced ballet training program, and the creator and producer of an original contemporary ballet. Zara will attend Bard College, double majoring in theater and dance with a concentration in music.

Sydney Bridges

Sydney Bridges, daughter of Lisa and Kevin Bridges of Saco, played tennis and participated in the Action Team and Ambassadors Club. She was a member of the National Honor Society and served as a Youth Representative on the City of Saco Advisory Board. She will attend the University of North Florida and plans to major in business.

Sydney Brown

Sydney Brown, daughter of Jennifer and Alex Brown of Saco, played soccer and ran track. She was a member of the National Honor Society and Community Leaders Club. She will attend UMaine Orono and plans to study molecular biology.

Emily Cairns

Emily Cairns, daughter of Julie and Peter Cairns of Saco, participated in student council and was the secretary of the Class of 2021. She participated in the Civil Rights Team, and was co-president of the Unified Club. She consistently earned high honors, and was a member of the National Honor Society. Emily will attend Boston College and plans to study accounting.

Ava Cariddi

Ava Cariddi, daughter of Alethea Cariddi of Arundel, participated in the ski club and played varsity volleyball, leading the team as captain in her senior year. She has consistently placed on the honor roll. Ava will attend Western New England University and plans to study business.

Kayoung Cho

Kayoung Cho, daughter of Nakhyun Cho and Mihwa Kim of South Korea, participated in Student Council, Interact, Civil Rights Team, and Community Leaders Club. She was a member of the National Honor Society, and has served as a dorm prefect for two years. Kayoung will return to South Korea upon graduating from Thornton Academy.

Amit Cohen

Amit Cohen is the daughter of Ronen Cohen of Saco, Maine and Netanya, Israel. At her previous school, Amit was recognized for her extensive volunteer service in her community. At TA she received honors for her creativity in photography, and for her work ethic generally. After graduation Amit will join the Israel Defense Force (IDF).

Elliot Coulombe Woznica

Elliot Coulombe Woznica, son of Angela Coulombe and Andrew Woznica of Saco, earned the honor roll award and has been recognized for academic excellence consistently throughout his high school career. He will attend the University of New England; he plans to explore options before committing to a major.

Grace Courtney

Grace Courtney, daughter of Deborah and Thomas Courtney of Saco, participated on TA’s swim team, the TA Players, and Treble Choir. She has earned honor roll designations all four years, and has had artwork hung in the Portland Museum of Art for Youth Art Month. She will attend the University of Vermont and plans to major in studio art.

Sean Cosgrove

Sean Cosgrove, son of Santa-Maria and Chris Cosgrove of Saco, has been on the honor roll all four years, and was awarded the Xerox Award for Innovation and Information Technology. Sean will attend the University of Southern Maine and plans to major in mechanical/aerospace engineering.

Sarah Dill Susan Costa

Sarah Dill, daughter of Virginia and Brian Dill of Saco, played volleyball both for TA and with a club team. She was a member of Thornton Academy Players and participated in this year’s musical. She was a member of the National Honor Society, and received the Book Award from Clarkson University. Sarah will attend the University of New England; she plans to pursue a pre-law program, majoring in political science.

Casey Donovan

Casey Donovan, daughter of Dan and Robyn Donovan of Saco, participated in WAGER, Ink Magazine, Interact Club, and the TA band. She plans to take a gap year for employment and to save for college.

Nam Dinh Duong

Nam Dinh Duong, son of Huong Nguyen of Haiphong, Vietnam, participated in the Environmental Club and earned the honor roll award. He will attend VinUniversity in Hanoi, Vietnam and plans to major in business administration.

Sophia Elliopulos

Sophia Elliopulos, daughter of Jackie and William Elliopulos of Saco, ran cross country and indoor track, serving as captain of both teams. She was awarded the University of Rochester Bausch + Lomb Honorary Science Award, and was a member of the National Honor Society Sophia will attend Northeastern University and plans to major in biochemistry.

Samantha Fickett

Samantha Fickett, daughter of Annette Merrill and Larry Fickett of Dayton, participated in volleyball and enjoyed both working and volunteering in the community. She has earned highest academic honors, and was a member of the National Honor Society and NCAA All Academic Team. She plans to major in business administration at the University of New England.

Isabella Kalinyak

Isabelle Galetto, daughter of Lou Galetto and Brigitte Menard-Galetto of Old Orchard Beach, has participated in TA soccer, basketball, and lacrosse. She plans to attend St. Joseph’s College of Maine, and plans to explore options before committing to a major.

Mai Hasegawa

Mai Hasegawa, daughter of Takeshi Hasegawa of Osaka, Japan, has played varsity tennis. She earned the honor roll award, and has been recognized for excellence in jazz band, history, and math. Mai will attend Knox University and has not yet decided on a major.

Andrew Horvat

Andrew Horvat, son of Andrew Horvat and Rachel Collard of Saco, was a member of the Thornton Academy Players, and was recognized for his achievement in chamber singers and jazz band. He earned the honor roll award. Andrew will attend the University of New Hampshire and has not yet decided on a major.

Isabelle Galetto Stacey Kane

Isabella Kalinyak, daughter of Robert and Rachel Kalinyak of Saco, played lacrosse. She is an accomplished musician, and was a performer in both the orchestra and the string quartet. She earned the honor roll award and was a member of the National Honor Society. IIsabella will attend Plymouth State University and plans to major in chemistry.

Dowon Lee

Dowon Lee, son of Jongphil Lee and Sohee Kim of Daegu, Korea, played soccer and basketball. He was a member of the Math Team, participated in Robotics Club and Environmental Club, and participated in many volunteer service activities. Dowon will attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison and will major in computer science and engineering.

Claire Loeser

Claire Loeser, daughter of Terry Loeser of Saco, played volleyball. She was co-president of the Thornton Academy Players, and was accepted to two district and two all-state music festivals. She was a member of the National Honor Society. She will attend the University of Maine where she plans to study music education and psychology.

Phuc Hoang Ly

Phuc Hoang “Jerry” Ly, son of Tan Ly of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. He was a member of National Honor Society, Game Club, Home Business, TEDx, Environmental Club, Chinese Club, and served as a teacher assistant. He also played dorm soccer. Phuc Hoang was on the honor roll and earned the Excellence Award in Honors Pre-Calculus and Outstanding Achievement Awards in Modern US History and Honors Algebra II. He will attend RMIT Vietnam and study business management.

Austin Macomber

Austin Macomber, son of Bill and Leah Macomber of Saco, played soccer and ran indoor and outdoor track. He was a member of the Civil Rights Team, was widely recognized for academic excellence and achievement, and was a member of the National Honor Society. Austin will attend Fordham University; he has not yet decided on a major.

Adéla Marková

Adela Markova, daughter of Kveta Markova and Tomas Marek of Brno, Czech Republic, was a member of the TA Dance Company and the Student Media Team. She participated in the school musical, and has held a part-time job as a makeup artist. She plans to take a gap year, travelling to Spain to improve her Spanish language skills. In 2022, Adela will attend an American college in Prague, Czech Republic.

Megan Montoya

Megan Montoya, daughter of Tracey and Alex Montoya of Saco, was captain of TA Ambassadors and participated in the concert and jazz bands. She consistently earned high honors throughout her high school career and was a member of the National Honor Society. Megan will attend the University of Richmond and plans to major in global studies.

Tenley Murphy

Tenley Murphy, daughter of Tim and Karen Murphy of Saco, was very active in TA service organizations. She participated in Academic World Quest, Thornton Academy TEDx, and was an aid for the School Counseling Office. She served as the vice president of the Class of 2021, and was a member of the National Honor Society. Tenley will attend Clemson University and plans to study language and international business.

Esther Ofielu

Esther Ofielu, daughter of Lazarus and Joy Ofielu of Saco, was a National Honor Society member, and received the Smith College Book Award. She will attend Northeastern University and plans to study health science and psychology.

Julia Pisani

Julia Pisano, daughter of Tamara and Andrew Pisani of Dayton, played tennis and soccer, and ran cross country. She participated in Interact and INK Magazine, and was a member of the National Honor Society. Julia will attend McGill University, majoring in elementary education.

Miranda Silva

Miranda Silva, daughter of Wayne Silva and Jessica Hersey of Arundel, played volleyball and was a member of the TA Performance Jazz Band. She participated in the equality-seeking group WAGER, was a member of the National Honor Society, and has been awarded the Williams College Award. Miranda will attend the University of New England and plans to study chemistry.

Annalise Spaulding

Annalise Spaulding, daughter of Wendy Spaulding of Dayton, has participated in varsity soccer and varsity swimming all four years at TA, and was honored with the SMAA Student-Athlete Good Citizenship Award. She has earned highest honors all four year at TA. Annalise will attend the University of Vermont, where she plans to study secondary education.

Hazel Stoddard, daughter of Owen Stoddard and Lucy Baird-Stoddard of Old Orchard Beach, has played soccer and lacrosse all four years at TA, and was elected co-captain of both the soccer and lacrosse teams in her senior year. She was a National Honor Society member, served on the Leadership Council, and was awarded the Wellesley Book Award. Hazel will attend Maine Maritime Academy and plans to study power engineering technology.

Julia Violette

Julia Violette, daughter of Steve and Nancy Violette, has been an outstanding participant in theater, choir, and music. She consistently earned high honors throughout her high school career and was a member of the National Honor Society. She will attend Suffolk University and plans to study psychology.

Madeliene Walsh Susa Costa

Madeleine Walsh, daughter of Christina Paul of Saco, competes in Irish dance, serving as an assistant dance teacher. She also volunteers with kindergarten summer school. She has been on the honor roll all four years, and will attend Elon University. She is undecided on a major, but is interested in business and neuroscience.

Ethan Waterhouse

Ethan Waterhouse, son of Jerry and Samantha Waterhouse of Dayton, has played varsity tennis, and competed with the Math Team. He is a National Merit Commended Student and an AP Scholar. Ethan will attend the University of Maine to study mathematics.

Taylor Westhaus Amy Salerno

Taylor Westhaus, daughter of Christine Christensen and John Westhaus of Saco will attend the University of Maine and plans to study zoology.

Mingzhi Xu

Mingzhi Xu, son of Hongxia Yuan and Liping Xu of Hangzhou, China, was a member of the track and field team. She participated in the Mathematics Club and the Robotics Club. He has placed on the honor roll throughout his high school career, and was a member of the National Honor Society. Mingzhi will attend New York University and plans to study game design.

Jeongyoon Yang

Jeongyoon “Jenny” Yang, daughter of Junghun Yang and Injae Chung of Seoul, participated in many volunteer service activities both at home in South Korea andat TA. She was a member of the National Honor Society, served as the Student Body Secretary, and was a dorm prefect. Jenny plans to major in communications and media at a university in the United States.

Shun Yao

Shun “Kevin” Yao, son of Shuguang Yao and Ling Chen of Shanghai, China, is the Valedictorian of the TA Class of 2021. He participated on the Math Team, Interact, and Ambassador Club. Kevin earned second place in the Maine Science Olympiad for anatomy and physiology, and was a member of the TA Academic World Quest team that took first place in Maine. He will attend the University of California at Berkeley, majoring in linguistics and philosophy.

Zichen Zhao

Zichen “Reina” Zhao, daughter of Yanyan Pei of Xuzhou, China, participated in the Chinese Club. She earned the honor roll award and was a member of the National Honor Society. Reina will attend the University of Massachusetts, majoring in mathematics

Gexuan Zhu

Gexuan “Anna” Zhu, daughter of Jiyuan Zhao, of Xi’an, China, was recognized as a leader in the Chinese Club. She earned the honor roll award, and was a member of the National Honor Society. Anna will attend New York University.
