Terry Mulcahy, wife of Robert Mulcahy III, dies at 84

Terry Mulcahy, the wife of Robert E. Mulcahy III, died on May 1.  She was 84.

A businesswoman and realtor, Mulcahy served on the Mendham Board of Education, as a trustee of the Mendham Senior Housing Corporation, as a director of the New Jersey Ballet, and as a director of the Daytop residential treatment center in Morris County.

She became involved in politics in 1963 when her husband ran for a seat on the Mendham Borough Council and scored a rare win for a Democrat in a race against incumbent Francis Hewens.  Robert Mulcahy was elected mayor in 1969, served as Gov. Brendan Byrne’s Commissioner of Corrections, spent 19 years as president and CEO of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, and more than a decade as Rutgers University Athletic Director   He is currently the chairman of the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority.

A wake for Terry Mulcahy will be held on Tuesday from 4-7 PM at Saint James Roman Catholic Church in Basking Ridge, will a funeral mass scheduled there at 10 AM on Wednesday.

In addition to her husband of 61 years, she is survived by seven children and fifteen grandchildren.
