Man accused of exposing himself in Murray Hill on leave from dance studio

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Following reports of a man who repeatedly exposed himself in the Murray Hill neighborhood, Jacksonville police have made an arrest.

Records show 37-year-old Savery Morgan was held on a $2,500 bond and released from jail Thursday night. News4Jax has learned the man worked with children at a Jacksonville-area dance studio, Florida Ballet.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said it was first sent to the neighborhood on April 15 after a report of someone exposing himself while performing a sex act.

Following the initial report, police said, additional social media posts began to emerge that appeared to be related and indicated the type of car he might be driving -- a red Chevy Impala.

For several days, police had been looking for the car. Police said that on Tuesday morning, someone spotted the car, took a picture of the license plate and sent it to police.

Morgan was questioned and then arrested at his job.

On Thursday morning, he appeared before a judge who offered Morgan 12 months of probation and ordered that he undergo psychosexual counseling within 30 days if he pleaded guilty or no contest.

Morgan did not accept the judge’s offer and said he will hire an attorney. Morgan was ordered not to stop or be within 3,000 feet of a school, should he bond out of jail.

“I think I’m a little confused because I work with kids,” Morgan said to the judge.

“You’re going to have a problem,” the judge replied. “With these charges, I don’t know if you’re going to have employment in that field anymore.”

Denise Finch, who lives in the Murray Hill neighborhood, said she was relieved to learn an arrest had been made.

“Huge relief,” she said.

The father of two children, who asked not to be identified, shared her sentiment.

“I know of others were scared to let their kids out,” he said.

The Florida Ballet executive director told News4jax that Morgan’s arrest was a shock to everyone who works there. She placed Morgan on paid administrative leave, pending the police investigation, and letters were sent to parents of children Morgan worked with to inform them of his arrest.
