“We have students from PEI to B.C. and as far away as Bermuda joining our 2020-2021 Professional Training Program (PTP) and returning to dance in our Belleville studios,” stated Catherine Taylor, QBSC artistic director.” Since the lockdown, QBSC’s PTP students have been training in their homes taking virtual classes from QBSC teachers. QBSC held its first ever three-week virtual summer dance program that wrapped up August 28.”

QBSC teachers are excited to welcome back students to the Recreation Dance Program with three 10-week terms of classes beginning September 26. Taylor believes that dance classes and moving to music are important factors in helping to maintain a healthy physical and mental well-being, reduce stress, develop new skills, inspiring creativity and joy.

“We have a detailed plan and new guidelines to ensure all of our students, teachers, staff and visitors stay safe when in QBSC facilities and have restricted the number of students in all of our classes and the number of people in our building to ensure social distancing,’ explained Taylor. “Our new policies to minimize health risks includes temperature and COVID-19 screening and hand sanitization at the door, face covering requirements, social distancing in our well-marked studios and enhanced cleaning measures. We allow students to remove their masks when dance classes begin in the studio. Face coverings must be worn at all other times in the building.”

Quinte Ballet School of Canada is committed to teach, promote and present the joy of dance at both the professional and recreational levels. Under the leadership of Taylor, QBSC provides dancers with well-rounded training, connects them to the dance world, and supports them every step of the way. Faculty and staff are dedicated to creating an inspiring and supportive environment that nurtures talented young people towards a career in the dance industry and provides a variety of recreation classes on evenings and weekends for people of all ages who love to learn and to dance.
