Indulging in my secret passion: Dancing

I could dance all night!

Dancing, more than singing, is my secret passion.

Whenever there is a chance to hit the dance floor, I will be the first to get the party started.

I gamely pulled some guests to dance at the launch of The Estate Makati, an ultraluxurious residential tower soon to rise on Ayala Avenue.

Touted as the tallest and most expensive residential property, the 54-story tower is a project of ST 6747 Resources Corp., a 50-50 joint venture of SM Prime and Federal Land.

The late tycoons Henry Sy Sr. and George Ty had worked together on their first real estate project nearly 40 years ago with The Ritz, an upscale residential property also in Makati.

As destiny would have it, their sons Henry Sy Jr., chair of SM Prime, and Alfred Ty, chair of Federal Land, are continuing the legacy of their fathers with The Estate Makati beside The Ritz.

After the keynote speeches and dinner at Grand Hyatt Manila, the stars of the West End production of “Let It Be: A Celebration of the Music of The Beatles” performed dozens of the Fab Four’s immortal songs. I helped get the dancing started.

‘CatsFather’

At the same venue a week later, we were dancing again at the 60th birthday bash of CATS Motors boss Felix Ang. It was a joint celebration of Felix and his company CATS (Cars, Accessories, Tires and Services) Motors Inc.’s 30th anniversary.

CATS Motors provides world-class and luxury automobile ownership experience, carrying prestigious brand names such as Mercedes-Benz, Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep.

Felix never fails to pay it forward. He is a supporter of charitable institutions such as Habitat for Humanity, Gawad Kalinga and GoNegosyo.

As one of the ninongs of our 25th wedding anniversary, Felix and his wife Grace also supported our charities, including Red Charity Gala. They celebrate their silver wedding anniversary this year as well.

The “Godfather”-theme party had several vintage car showcases where guests took photos. Event stylist Barbie Pardo-Tiangco conceived the concept and setup. The “CatsFather” party was more festive—thanks to all the décor, party favors and photo booths.

After his heartfelt speech, Felix was surprised with a wonderful video greeting of family and close friends. He joked that he will retire from baby-making after celebrating the first birthday party of his youngest daughter Lexi.

We got the dancing started soon after Gary Valenciano hit the stage.

Soon after, everyone had eyes on Tonyboy Cojuangco, who played guitar with band. Fresh from visiting their daughter Dominique Cojuangco in San Francisco, Gretchen Barretto was also at the party to greet Felix.

Milan Fashion Week

Another event that filled up the dance floor was the after-party of the Fila Spring-Summer 2020 fashion show.

For the second straight year, Fila Philippines CEO and owner Cris Albert invited her team and special friends to Milan Fashion Week (MFW) last month to attend the Fila SS 2020 show, together with teams from Fila Japan, Korea and Germany, global celebrities, stylists and models.

Led by creative directors Antonino Ingrasciotta and Joseph Graesel, who joined Fila last year, the sportswear brand is leading the ’90s sportswear lifestyle look and proudly presented its SS 2020 collection at MFW.

The runway show featured sailing jackets, fanny packs and those sock-style boots.

At the Fila gala dinner at Museo Diocesano Corso di Porta Ticinese, Cris received a warm welcome from Fila International chair Gene Yoon.

Team Fila Philippines also met with influential designers, Korean celebrities and the Fila Germany crew.

Cris looked gorgeous in a Puey Quiñones dress and her actress sister Fila Philippines VP for advertising Ana Abad Santos, wore Daryl Maat.

They were joined by Anton San Diego, Tim Yap and Javi Martinez. Most of the collection will be available on fila.com.ph soon.

Flamenco at RCBC Theater

Dance is truly an expression of life. To me, flamenco is the most expressive. I will cheer on my friends Gia Ramos and Bon Soler on stage as they perform at “La Luna Roja,” an upcoming production of Fundación Centro Flamenco.

Original story and libretto by Emma Estrada, “La Luna Roja” is the Philippines’ first original full-length flamenco ballet and is directed by Leo Rialp.

There are performances by the students of Centro Flamenco, and professional flamenco artists are flying in direct from Spain.

Javier Martos brings his elegance and passion in his lead role of Jamil.

Sergio Gomez, “El Colorao,” a singer from a long family line of flamenco singers, will provide the distinct song. He is joined by Rubén Campos on guitar and Jose Cortes, “El Indio,” on percussion.

“La Luna Roja” brings together all elements of flamenco onto the stage with live flamenco cante (song), toque (guitar), cajón (percussion) and baile (dance).

“La Luna Roja”: Nov. 23 (8 p.m.) and 24 (3 p.m.) at the Carlos P. Romulo Theater, RCBC Plaza, Ayala Avenue, Makati; tel. 0917-6756192 or centroflamencophil.com, Ticketworld.

Relationships workshop

Check out the upcoming workshop called “Build Fulfilling Relationships,” Nov. 9 at Entheos Room, Henry Sy Hall, Assumption College, San Lorenzo Village, Makati.

The workshop is facilitated by renowned legacy teachers based in the United States, Tarn Taran Singh and Tarn Taran Kaur.

The workshop is designed to help you upgrade parts of your life—your self, your intimate relationships and your overall social life, friends, family and coworkers.
