Art Gym farewell

Portland singer Holland Andrews will appear at the Art Gym's final Marylhurst University event to give an improvisational performance highlighting the acoustics of the empty space. The 38-year-old Art Gym space is closing as the university prepares to shut down by the end of the year. 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, Art Gym, 17600 Pacific Highway (Oregon 43), Lake Oswego. Beaverton Ten Tiny Dances

It's been a decade since the city of Beaverton began presenting choreographers and dancers of all stripes on 4-foot-square stages in community spaces as a nod to art and diversity. This year's performances will represent Egyptian, Japanese and Mexican folk, South Indian Bharatanatyam, modern, experimental, ballet/butoh, Irish step and contemporary ballet. 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 14, by The Round, 12725 S.W. Tualatin ArtSplash

More than 50 Northwest artists will display works in acrylic, ceramics, glass, jewelry, photography, watercolor and other mediums during the 23rd annual ArtSplash Art Show and Sale. 'Oleanna'

In the age of #MeToo, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Mamet's 1992 play about a university professor seeking tenure and a female student who accuses him of sexual harassment has renewed relevancy. Verona Quartet

The much-acclaimed string quartet, whose repertoire includes a healthy dose of works by living composers, gives a Portland Art Museum concert inspired by two current exhibitions, "The Shape of Speed" and "Richard Diebenkorn: Beginnings." 'Sin, Fate and Redemption'

Kurt Weill's classic ballet chanté "The Seven Deadly Sins" is the centerpiece of the Oregon Music Festival's finale, featuring mezzo soprano Wallis Giunta and dancer/choreographer Jennifer Nichols. 'Pretty Creatives'

The winners of NW Dance Project's 10th annual Pretty Creatives International Choreographic Competition, Kristen Céré and Menghan Lou, will present their work at this performance. Céré, a Canada native, has worked internationally for more than 15 years. Ideal PDX's Latino Art Exhibition

Inclusion and diversity are the themes of this fifth annual art festival, which features visual art by nearly two dozen local artists, live performances, food from Portland Mercado vendors, and more.
